GUIDELINES

STAFF RESTROOM

The staff restroom is on the lower level near the service entrance. Please do not use the public restrooms on the main (upper) floor. The employee restroom has a shower and is stocked with soap, shampoo, towels, disposable toothbrushes, toothpaste, and mouthwash.

I will use the restroom on the lower level near the service entrance. I will wash my hands after using the restroom.

APPEARANCE GUIDELINES

You are required to have a professional appearance. 1. Shower and brush your teeth within a few hours of your start time. 2. If you have facial hair, it should be trimmed neatly and not be scraggly. 3. Your pockets should be empty to avoid tinkling coins or keys and bulges. 4. Avoid eating and chewing gum when inside the building or when clocked in. 5. Wear light perfume and cologne. 6. If you have pierced ears, wear studs or nothing. Other jewelry, such as rings, should be kept to a minimum.

FRONT OF HOUSE UNIFORM GUIDELINES

If you are not providing your own uniform, you may borrow a uniform from the Roosevelt Library while working. If you plan on borrowing a uniform, you should try it on several days before you are scheduled to work. Uniforms and other items are not to be taken out of the building. 1. White, ironed, long sleeve, collared dress shirt. 2. Black slacks for men or women or, for women, a knee length, black, skirt. 3. Black socks for men or, for women, black hosiery (provided by the employee). 4. Black closed-toe, rubber soled dress shoes (provided by the employee). 5. If you choose to wear a face mask, it is to be a black RL branded face mask provided by RL. 6. Black straight tie or bow tie. 7. Black morning coat or black jacket. 8. Headset and walkie talkie (provided by RL). 9. Clean, white, cotton gloves (provided by RL).

KITCHEN & BACK OF HOUSE UNIFORM GUIDELINES

1. White, ironed, collared dress shirt or black short sleeve shirt. 2. Black slacks. 3. Black socks. 4. Black, rubber soled dress shoes. 5. Black straight tie or bow tie is to be worn if you are wearing a white, collared dress shirt. 6. White chef's jacket if you are a chef.

CELL PHONE POLICY

If you bring your cell phone into the building, then you will need to lock it in the cell phone locker near the service entrance. You may also place your keys in the locker. There is a $20 charge for lost keys.

PARKING POLICY

Please park on the street in front of the building (east side of the building). Do not park in the parking lot.

ENTRY & EXIT POLICY

Please enter and exit through the side (north) service entrance. If you do not have a passcode to unlock the door, please ring the door bell.

EATING & DRINKING POLICY

The Roosevelt Library does not provide food to employees. Alcoholic beverages are not to be brought onto the property or consumed anywhere on the property. If you bring a snack, please enjoy it inside the service stair or outside of the service entrance. Food and beverages should never be consumed in the kitchen.

BREAK POLICY

Texas labor and employment law has no general rule requiring breaks or lunches no matter how long you work. Because Texas lacks state specific laws on break and lunch periods, it defaults to federal law. Federal law also generally does not require breaks or a lunch period. Do not take breaks in the storage rooms. If you need to take a break longer than 10 minutes, please clock out. Smoking is prohibited anywhere on the property - inside and outside.

TOUCHING POLICY

It is the policy of Roosevelt Library that employees are not to touch customers or co-workers. This includes but is not limited to shaking hands, kissing, hugging, or even getting someone's attention by touching their shoulder.

COMPENSATION POLICY

Full-time, part-time employees, and vendors are compensated no later than the Monday after the day they worked. Please send a text to 210-862-1062 if you haven't received payment in a timely manner.

TIPPING POLICY

Although tipping is discouraged, if you are discretely offered a gratuity, you may accept it graciously so as not to offend the guest. Tip jars are never permitted. An end of year bonus is distributed in January for employees and vendors who have demonstrated exceptional performance. Failing to show up to work on time without prior notice excludes one from participating in the year end bonus.

PHOTO/VIDEO POLICY

Employees are not allowed to take photographs or videos anywhere in or around the building. If a guest askes you to take a photo with their phone, politely decline.

HEALTH POLICY

Employees and vendors should not come to work if they have any of the following symptoms: fever, chills, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, muscle/body aches, headache, loss of taste/smell, sore throat, congestion, runny nose, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea.

PERSONAL PROPERTY POLICY

Do not bring valuables into the building. The Roosevelt Library is not responsible for lost or stolen person items.

FIREARM POLICY

The carrying of a firearm (licensed or unlicensed) of any kind while inside the building (311 Roosevelt Avenue) is strictly prohibited.

TOBACCO & VAPING POLICY

Roosevelt Library and it's company vehicles are designated as tobacco-free areas. The use of tobacco and vaping devices is prohibited at all times an all places, indoors or outdoors, including entryways, the parking lot, and in company vehicles. There are no designated smoking areas, since no level of tobacco use is considered to be safe.

I will not use tobacco or vaping products on the property (inside or outside).

TIME CLOCK (FOR HOURLY WORKERS)

If you are compensated on an hourly basis, you will need to clock in and out of the time clock located at the entrance to the kitchen. Your passcode is the last four digits of your cell phone number. Clock in AFTER you are in uniform and clock out BEFORE you change into your own clothes. If your passcode does not work, please inform your manager before starting work.

BACKGROUND CHECK CONSENT

An employment background check can include, but is not limited to, credit history, motor vehicle reports (MVRs), criminal record, and use of social media, and drug screening.

NON-DISCLOSURE AGREEMENT

Employee or vendor agrees that all information communicated to him/her concerning the work conducted by or for Roosevelt Library is confidential. Employee or vendor agrees to sign a non-disclosure agreement.
